PAPAS CALIENTESJoin Itzatna Arts for their new community cooking project 'Papas Calientes´ (Hot potatoes/Cold potatoes) in Moseley Park and Pool for Moseley Festival 2022. We will be digging up the park to build our own communal earth ovens to cook, bake, and roast our own potatoes (and other fruits and veg!) before sharing them with the festival and wider Moseley community in a communal feast and live performance.
Papas Calientes is an Outdoor communal cooking installation exploring the Latin American roots and postcolonial journey of the humble potato, and how we as a community are responding to the ongoing worldwide cost of living, energy, and climate crisis. EVENT TIMETABLE: 10:00 - 12:00 - Dig your own earth oven workshop. Join us in the park with our volunteers to learn how to make your own traditional earth oven. All tools provided. Please wear comfortable, waterproof clothes you don´t mind getting dirty/messy. 13:00 - 14:00 - Cook your own potatoes workshop. Learn how to cook your own food in a your new earth oven. We will have a range of red, white, and sweet potatoes, plus other veg for you to cook. 14:00 - 16:00 - Public performance and potato picnic. Join us for a communal picnic and public performance of ´Papas calientes´by Itzatna Arts Collective where we will be giving out the freshly cooked potatoes to everyone at the festival. |
